Answer: r = Rs. 3000 (Option B)

  1. Calculate total investments: P's total investment = 5000 * 6 = 30000. Q's total investment = r * 8 = 8r.
  2. Set up profit ratio from given share: Q receives 4/9 of total profit => P receives 5/9. So Profit_P : Profit_Q = 5:4. Therefore Investment_P : Investment_Q = 5:4.
  3. Solve for r: 30000 / (8r) = 5/4 => 4 * 30000 = 5 * 8r => 120000 = 40r => r = 120000/40 = 3000.
